The last episode of Gilmore Girls was a wonderful episode, although it was sad to see it knowing it was going to be the last. The episode began with Rory in her pajamas meeting CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour. Lorelai and Rory had planned a summer tour but Rory has to postpone the trip because of a surprise job offer covering Barack Obama’s campaign for an online magazine located in Eldridge Iowa. She has to leave in 3 days and it breaks all of Stars Hollow’s hearts.

Luke puts together a bon voyage party for Rory and Lorelai stays very busy trying to keep her mind off of the sadness and feelings of falling apart she feels. Rory has a panic attack when thinking about leaving everything she knows and loves behind and Lane comes to the rescue and consoles her.

Babette’s ankles tell her that there is going to be a huge rainstorm so Luke spends the last night before the party sewing up a tent to keep the party attendees dry. When Lorelai finds out what Luke has done she has an unexpected reaction and the two share a passionate kiss.

Lorelai decides to continue the Friday night dinners at her parent’s house and Emily is pleased that she does. On the morning of Rory’s departure Luke opens the diner early so that the Gilmore Girls can share one more special breakfast together.
